Got questions about the Antarctica cruise?
Can I join if I’m on my own?
We highly encourage you to join if you’re on your own as you’ll feel more open to connect with others who are in the same boat (pun intended).
What happens after I apply?
Once you apply, our team will review your application and reach out with next steps. If accepted, you’ll receive detailed instructions on securing your spot, preparing for the trip, and joining the Nomad Cruise community.
Can I share a cabin with other participants?
We offer shared cabins with another Nomad Cruise participant, with the option of two separate beds. By sharing a cabin, not only can we welcome more people onboard, but you'll also save on your ticket and have a new friend from day one. You can either suggest someone you'd like to share with, or we’ll match you with another wonderful participant of the same gender.
What is the weather like in the Antarctic Peninsula?
During February, which is summertime, you can expect an average temperature of 1 to 2 degrees Celsius (33.8 to 35.6 degrees Fahrenheit), with some rain on occasion.
What type of people are joining the expedition?
The Nomad Cruise Antarctica expedition attracts a diverse group of digital nomads, entrepreneurs, creators, and remote professionals. They share a passion for adventure and exploration, eager to connect with like-minded people, grow their networks, and experience one of the most stunning, remote regions of the world together.
I get really seasick. Can I still join?
For most of the journey, you’ll hardly feel the ship sway. However, the Drake Passage can be choppy, so if you're prone to seasickness or it’s your first time at sea, we recommend bringing motion sickness medication. Rest assured, we have a doctor on board to assist you if needed and ensure you're comfortable throughout the expedition.
Can I bring my partner and kids?
Yes, you have the option to bring your partner and children if your application is accepted.
If you'd like to bring children, it's possible, but we recommend that they be at least 8 years old. Children aged 8-15 receive a discount when sharing a cabin with two other passengers. For additional information, please email us at [email protected].
What is included in the ticket?
- Voyage as indicated in the itinerary
- All meals aboard the ship including snacks, coffee and tea.
- Program of lectures by noted naturalists and leadership by experienced expedition staff.
- Nomad Cruise Program & Invitation to Reunions
- All service taxes and port charges.
What is not included in the ticket?
- Baggage, cancellation and compulsory travel insurance. All beverages must be purchased separately, except for water and complimentary coffee, which are included. - Starlink WiFi is available for an additional charge. - Laundry, bar, beverage charges and telecommunication charges. - Tips at the end of the voyages for stewards and other service personnel aboard.
When should I arrive in Ushuaia?
We recommend arriving 2 days in advance (30th January) so you can already meet and connect with the other participants. If that’s too early for you, please plan to be there the latest on the 31st January to make sure you have some buffer in case anything goes south with your itinerary. We will also share some hotel recommendations as we get closer to the trip.
Do you have a refund policy?
If for some reason you can’t make it on the cruise, you can cancel your ticket by simply sending an email to [email protected].
The following conditions apply to cancellations and booking changes for the trip:
> 60 Days: Deposit is held as cancellation
60 – 30 Days: 33% of the tour price is held as cancellation
29 – 19 Days: 67% of the tour price is held as cancellation
18 – 0 Days: 100% of the tour price is held as cancellation
Tickets are not for resale.
Which cruise line and ship are we going on?
MS Ortelius will be our home away from home for these 11 days, operated by Oceanwide Expeditions.
Is there Wi-Fi on board?
With Starlink on board, you'll typically have fast internet access—even in Antarctica. However, all internet, email, and cellular network usage (if available) are at your own expense. While the connection is reliable, it's still wise to plan for limited use, giving you more time to connect with fellow passengers and fully enjoy the journey.
What currency is used on board?
The currency used aboard the ship is the Euro, but you can also pay with USD.
What type of clothing should I bring for the expedition cruise?
For Zodiac cruises to shore you’ll need a waterproof jacket and pants (minimum 15,000mm rating). Apart from that, our advice is to take warm, windproof, waterproof clothes that you can easily add or remove in layers. It’s best to take clothing made of wool, silk, and new synthetic fibers, all of which retain heat better than other materials.
We will provide you with an expedition manual, which will include a detailed packing list to make sure you are prepared with everything you’ll need.
What types of plants and animals can I see in Antarctica?
The vegetation at Antarctica consists of around 350 species of mostly lichens, mosses, and algae. Various sea birds, seals, and penguins are often seen in Antarctica such as the Emperor Penguin, Adelie Penguin, Orcas, Humpback whales, Weddell Seals and Leopard seals.
What happens after arrival?
In general we can encourage you to stick around in the area for a few weeks after the expedition. This gives you an excellent opportunity to build deeper connections and brainstorm potential business collaborations with those you met on board. You won’t want to miss the reunions we will organize after the cruise – they are always a ton of fun and a great way to explore yet another beautiful destination – or two!
